How to use a nasal spray

More and more of us are suffering with allergies these days, leading to blocked and stuffy noses. One of the most effective ways to treat this is to use a nasal spray, usually one containing a steroid.

These sprays are brilliant at keeping the sinuses clear, but if used incorrectly, they can be ineffective or lead to side effects such as irritated sinuses or throats. This can happen if the spray goes straight through the sinuses and down the back of the throat.

The video below is a great explainer for anyone using a spray, along with these main points:

  1. Tilt your head forward slightly, NOT back

  2. Spray away from the centre of the nose slightly

  3. Don’t sniff too hard
